Today was pretty ok. Nothing much though. Fall-in at 1pm etc etc. Then combine then we played the full version of the Jr. Band concert pieces; as in with the full perc instruments. Today was ok lah. Not that great not that bad. But really boring can! Heck hope tomorrow sectionals with FAIZZAH! Mu HAHAHA. Normally that thing dam fun de.

EEEE! I cut my hair! Ok lah. Look nice also. At least not like SHANNON! Haha. I'm evil! Urrr. Fear mee.

Found something on Need For Ms Faizzah's blog. Really meaningful I dare say. Really nice. I should read TODAY papers more.

Adapted From Faizzah's Blog; www.hazziaf-bustedness.blogspot.com

Which is from the TODAY papers:

2 years ago, my grandfather did what many of us (including me then) would consider to be the unthinkable. On April 15th 2004, my grandfather committed suicide - jumping off the 8th storey of the block of flats he was living in. He was 79.

That morning, my uncle, who was living with my grandfather, found nothing amiss. My grandfather had returned from his usual early morning routine - a walk in the park followed by a cup of coffee at the kopitiam. But at about 7.20am, he leapt from the parapet of the corridor. To this day, I do not know why my grandfather decided to end his life. Prior to that fateful day, things had been looking good. My grandfather had survived a 2-year battle with bladder cancer and was well on the road to recovery.

Although he had had his bladder removed and carried an external pouch wherever he went, I never did hear him moan about the inconvenience. Sure, people would stare, he would tell me. But in the next breath, he would shrug things off and say: "Life goes on." Despite his age, he was mobile and would insist that I did not have to take him home after functions at my parents' place. You see, my grandfather was a survivor. He survived the WWII, the death of my grandmother in 1983 and an enstrangement with one of his doted-upon sons. But I guess this image of the strong patriarch was deceptive.

Nearly all his 8 children, with the exception of my youngest uncle, had their own families and their own affairs to look after. Some of the grandchildren, including my brother and I - who were looked after by him in our early years - had also grown apart from him. We had lives of our own to lead. My grandfather's last years coincided with my university years and I never did fulfil - or even attempt to fulfil - my promise to show him how to use the MRT system. I was too caught up in my own life, assuming there was always the next day for me to show him around the trains. And the next day turned into weeks, then months and finally years. That I let slip the chance to reach out to him, will forever be a regret.

Looking back, I don't think anyone in my family had any idea of the mental and emotional turmoil my grandfather was grappling with. Nor did the possibility cross our minds that such a strong man might be besieged by loneliness and depression. I am most worried that, more and more, suicide may become the elderly person's final cry for help, and that what happened to my family could happen to someone else. In the nursing homes I visited, I saw some elderly folk who stared blankly into space - as if waiting for their loved ones to appear before them. Then there were those who told me they had shrugged loneliness aside and kept themselves occupied. But while they said they understood that their families were busy trying to make a living, I could see in their eyes that they wished they had more time with - not to mention acceptance from - their children and grandchildren.

With the onset of major illness and the possible loss of mobility, the likelihood of depression hitting an elderly person will increase. Especially if he/she has been left in a harsh environment: Alone at home, perhaps with a foreign maid, or in an old folks' home. If life is reduced to a bed, clothes, meals and 4 walls, it is not much better than a prison. I think the 1st, and best, line of defence against elderly depression lies with families. While we may strive to achieve more and build our own families, we shouldn't be blind to the possibility that we may be neglecting a loved one. Most of us will make time to spend with children - why can't we make similar sacrifices for the elderly? They played an integral part in shaping who we are and, different generations notwithstanding, we have many shared memories.

Growing up, I was a football fanatic and my grandfather and I would watch matches together. I found it painful, even irritating, to have to update him on Liverpool's latest striker. But I think he needed to learn more about me than about my favourite football club. I certainly did not want the questions or distractions; but what the proud man needed was a listening ear, and for us to appreciate that he still cared about us. I don't know whether I ever did reciprocate with the same concern. If all this strikes a painfully familiar chord with you, I would suggest you start by finding out your grandparents' names. I only found out my grandfather's name when he died - and I never told him how much he meant to me.

Wow. Really touching huh? If you werent moved by this, you must really suck lah. This is really meaningful coz I mean this is really true to most of us right? We dont really appreciate our Gramps good enough. So yah. Really emotional. But please try not to cry while reading. (:

Uhhh... Nothing much to say lah. Hope tomorrow band MORE FUN! And yes, I cut my hair! HAHA. Lmao. Two more days to Encounter Weekend!

The stock was 287 - minus 3 and today was 287- minus 12. Really bad man. Lol. Then went for band. Pretty pissed in the beginning by Shannon. Bitch. That girl dam sickening! RAWR! Lol.

Then we had combine. Had to warm up the Jr. Band coz Roszy not around. Okay lah. Sial. Now I now how it feels man. Then Azlan came and took us for combine. We sounded really really bad. So soon after we broke for sectionals. Sectionals is always super fun! Like uber coolness and laughter. Yah lor, even WeiLin say she jealous our SL soooo nice. We went through the pieces then we talk crap. So cool. Then we just kept laughing and laughing and irritating Faizzah with Rugrats and the Chinese thing. So funny can! So fun so fun so fun!! We were like so happy. I LOOOOOOOOVE sectionals!

Combine later in the Audi. We had to concentrate coz we were playing really really badly. So our batch was in need of some serious focus. Dont worry, no matter how bad lousy etc. our batch is, I believe we can do it! Coz we have done it before and can definitely do better! Much better!

So we ended the okay! Guess what?! When Adi conducted us for the last run-thru of Achilles' Wrath for the day, I actually played the quavers with accent and semiquaver thingy! So cool! I was like dam happy lah.

Yay! This Friday going for Weekend Encounter! Uber funness! Havent been to a church camp ALL year! So I'm syked! So cool! But I'll be going away for a long time. The camp ends on Sunday. Today was SUPER COOL MAN! Like Oh My G can. Morning woke up late rushed for band turned out 20mins early. Like diao lah. Today I'm super happy and hyper. So yeah I'm going from the morning to night so bear with me.

Band was ok. We had combine in the cold audi. Morning with band and audi doesnt mix with me so I was a bit below standard I feel. Then we broke for lunch. Went out with the section. Quite ok. Funny enough. Then after lunch we had the joy, sectionals.

Do you guys know that sectionals have never ever failed to cheer me up yet? It was like so cool. We practised all the songs and we like had alot of fun! Learning the Rugrats theme song during break and irritating the hell out of Ms Faizzah with the Chinese thing Rifat taught me. Lol. Then we crapped alot and it was pretty fun. But still we got practised the three songs while crapping in between. It was really cool. See Faizzah, thats why your the best! Quote - I need to shit!! Lol. But it was lots and lots of fun wouldnt you agree? I dont think I left out the good parts, then after sectionals was COMBINED sectionals with the lower brasses. More specifically, Tubas, Double Bass, Trombones and Euphos. Quite funny. Taken by Adi. Trumpets and Horns were taken by Azlan and Woodwinds by Yu Meng. Then we had combined back at the Audi where the COMBINED sectionals plus sectionals took place at. Yu Meng conducted us thru all three concert pieces. My word. He conducts differently. He conducted Achilles' Wrath SUPER UBER MADLY FAST. The rest will be like, ok lah, but I'm playing alot of running notes sial. Lol. Then it was really really fast. I got lost alot. Slowed down the Jr. Band alot. Sorry guys. Then Yu Meng wanted me to play the second snare solo SUPER UBER MADLY LOUD. Lol. I was like playing at ff or fff. I think. Or either that I cleaned my ears too well. Lol.

But I really needed to practise thats for sure. I cant keep up so I'm one of the few lagging. So I'll try... Haha. Tough but nothing is impossible! Lame line. Then I read score and tried to keep up and stare at score until I giddy liao! Then after band Mr Chia came and gave out the ticket booklets. So I took one coz I'm sure can sell lah. Lol. 10 tix. I can do it! Eww... Lame. Anyways, Joshua left his bottle behind . Diao. Lol. SO I went home eat. Blah blah blah. The usual you all know.

Then this really made my lor. Met her online after like so bloody long caan. Missed her. So caught up. Then crapped alot. She lucky sia. Flying away tml. So I cant pass the GOODS! Remember Faizzah? My SL dam nice to talk to can. Super friendly. She sent me a couple of songs. Oh My G! Godspeed is super fast can. Especially trumpets. Lol. Thanks goodness I'm only playing the tamborine. Woo! Lol. But still tough. Haha. Then talked to Faizzah. You know how I called Faizzah Queen Faizzah when she was reappointed SL? Now I found a new one. Need For Ms Faizzah Carbon. Like Need For Speed Carbon. Need For Ms Faizzah Carbon. Coming to a store near you this November! Best in NYC, Paris, France and some say Germany! Lol. She is like the best SL I have ever had lah. Even tho she's the only one. I mean she very understanding lor. Not fast to angry and she never like discourages us. She's always," Not bad. Good job. But I still think can do better right? Your this that this that that." But she's probably more patient coz only two people during sec 1 sectionals. But still, you dont see this type of caring SLs often. So thanks Faizzah especially all the songs! See thats why I say your da man! And the best! Woo!

Then this really kinda ends off my lovely and beuutiful day nia. Hope she gets back soon.

And that's ALLLLLLLLLL THAAAAAAAT!

Yo! Back... Just went to watch Casino Royale. Ok lah the show. Not too bad. 8.5/10 Good rating. Oh My G sial. The new Bond is like super uber fit. He rans dam fast and he has some hell lot of stamina. Ahh. But lets recount my day from the beginning.

Well woke up early to meet up for skit rehearsal. Ok lah. We edited alot of stuff to make it nicer and funnier. Those who wanna find out must come Monday to watch! Die die must laugh. Lol. But it was pretty ok practise. Band combine with sec 1s, 2s and 3s. Quite ok. We played Oregon which is super nice and catchy, For Someone Special and MI: II Bare Island. Quite cool. I only played during FSS. But quite fun tho. Then nth much. After combine we had one hour to rehearse the group performances for Farewell. Our group was like the last so yah, eveyrone was suuuuuper tense. Patrick was dam hot in one of the performance. Hehheh. Our group was pretty bad but very funny because we've never rehearsed before with the tables and chairs. So it was kinda tough. But I'm sure we'll put up a better show on Monday. Rest assured.

After that went home. And then took a long nap then went out watch movie. Pretty cool sia the movie.

Thats all lor.

'Its a sunny yellow, banana day. Do the cowtelicso banana way...'

Yo! Everyone! Woohoo! I'm back for the dunno how many time. I actually was pretty lazy to blog that one I have to admit. I actually planned to do a super long photo post but... I have to put up 100 plus photos to make it nice. So I'm trying to get a day and squeeze all those photos in a single post. Pro right? These past few days you guys didnt really miss much of my oh so boring life. I found out that most seniors very nice and easy to talk to. Like Faizzah especially, Yug Han, Gabriel, Vera and even Zhiyi! Lol. Yah like Faizzah very easy to talk to lor. This kinda like builds the Senior-Junior relationship. I guess.Weird huh? Lol.

Today was totally cool lah. For sectionals I mean. Before that I had a painful date with the dentist. OUCH! But it was ok. For my own good yah? Anways I need to get braces. Yah kinda expected once you see my teeth. Lol. Sectionals I had a pleasant surprise. I'm gonna play in the main band for Jungle and Godspeed! So cool. But it is reaaaally gonna be really hard and an honestly a big jump for me. The parts are tough but I'll try. Lol. Godspeed! will be super fast I'll bet. Lol. Anyway this will intersting and fun. Then after band went home with Joshua and Zul. Was pretty quiet. Slept on the train home. SO quite boring day. I want BAND!

Today nth much lor. I guess I wanna post something here which once again meaningful. I'm not pointing fingers but this is just food for thought. Just to remind once again that being older means being responsible. So if did something wrong, then please be honest. And dont take it out on someone else. SO just stating somethin.

`[Arch Dimensioneer]- That Touch

Monday, November 06, 2006, 10:52 PM
Today is like super siaaaaaaan! Ah! Woke up late and also nearly late for band. So yah! Best way to start the day hur? Woke up at 9.45am! And plus I live in Pasir Ris. Haha. Can die lor. Lol. Sectionals were ok. Given wrong scores though. Supposed to be Flutes with a Flair and For Someone Special. But turned out to be A Russian Folk Dance and Prehistoric Suite. Heck. But me and Joyce practised Achilles' Wrath and Westminister Prelude alot. I swear. AHHH!

So today after sectionals we had batch outing and Rifat and Joshua were obliged to follow me. So we went to Parkway to meet Stefan. Then we headed to Marina Square. Joshua had the most unfortunate to have to go home. Then we bowled and made lots of noise before heading to the arcade where we were kicked out after spotted in school PE attire. Lame lah. Lmao. So after which we all went to Macs for icecream before heading. Ok lah. At least I wasnt at home and stuck on the comp right?

AH! Tomorrow got band from 10 to 6! So bloody long can. I wanna pontang. No! Cannot must be strong! Lame lah hur? Cannot pon lah. Must be good boy huh? Anyways, Wednesday and Thursdays no band and Friday is the ensemble challenge. Btw, Faizzah, if you so happen to read this, what will I be part of in the ensemble? But no worries if there isnt. I'm not fussed. Just get a few people and play Achilles' Wrath. Lol. Heck lah.

I feel sleepy...

Why cant I see my tagboard?!

Oh yah. I'm trying to frequently blog so stay ha;py people! And yah, still cant see my beuuutiful tagboard. Sad huh? Dont cry! Be strong.

Today was pretty short coz I kinda woke up late and so delyaed my day. I only ate one bowl of fishball noodles and that lasted me from 11am to 6.15pm in the cold auditorium from 1pm to 6.15pm. Sucks lah. So sian. Today band we had sectionals for a while. Cool trying out the full percussion for Achilles' Wrath. Really nice sounds. Haha. Then we had combine in the dreaded audi.

Freaking cold kay. Can die in there man. Then we had the grace of practising three new pieces. Dinosaurs Compilation or something like that, Flutes on Flair and For Somone Special. Overall, the easiest piece was Flutes on Flair. Azlan told us that out of the three pieces, Westminister Prelude, Flutes on Flair and For Someone Special, two would be chosen. The dinosaur one didnt really work out for us and its a grade 1 piece. Lmao.

Our batch preferred Flutes on Flair and Westminister. Azlan preferred For Somone Special. Maybe he wants to conduct it for someone special? We'll never know.

Just joking. Joking. So it was ok I guess. Then went home and did nothing much. Haha. My day cannot get any duller. Agreed?

Wlao.

Thursday, November 02, 2006, 10:32 PM
Hey! I'm like, back again. Hi! Wave! Alot of things happened in my half month absence. Yes, half month lah. Lmao.

First off! I dont think I posted about my trip to Yexi's house with Gabriel and Vera. So yah, was pretty cool. I mean Yexi's house was super nice! Cool lah hur. He also quite friendly. We had to figure the perc ensemble for the 50th anniversary. Yah but even though I wasnt required to perform, they were still nice and invited me to go and help which I honestly did. A bit. Still did help right? Haha. Then me, Gab and Vera travelled hopelessly fun to SweeLee. Of course we got lost along the way. But we arrived there. Eventually. Then me and Gab headed to Pasir Ris and Vera to Boon Lay. So that concludes one exciting journey you all missed.

Of course along the way, we had nonetheless many "exciting" perc lunch or breakfasts. Then a certain "somebody" made me realise something really shocking yet true.

Then recently, last sunday I was in for the Philharmonic Orchestra concert at the Esplanade. I took a hell lot of pictures can. Like paparazzi. Ladies and gentleman I have a future career. When I have the time I'll post up these fantastic pictures. Well morning I had cell with the absence of Zheng Jia at a sailing comp and Victor who from what was last heard couldnt have bothered to come. I hope that if Victor, you will read this which is quite impossible, if you really are slacking as they say, please dont even though your PSLE is over. So please rember to come hor. You're not slacking right? Haha. Then I took loads of photo with Bryan Tan and Jeremy arm wrestling -.- Then about 3 plus I left service to meet Yug Han at Bedok MRT. Turned out he came 20 mins later but it was ok. Then we headed to City Hall. Typically, Vera was naturally down there first waiting lah. Soon the rest came at 4 sharp. So then we headed to CityLink mall to get a gift for Ms Wang. So ended up walking to Dunno-Where and finally bought sunflowers and a box of chocs for her. Me and YugHan were just cracking each other up lah. Lame comments ever so often. So we entered the hall barely before the doors closed.

Beginning was kinda boring a bit cause I'm not really a string instrument fan. So a hell lot of violin section solos. So some of us fell asleep for a while. During the song interval, many people started coughing lor. So lame sial. No life to those who did on purpose lor. That includes me! Joking joking. Dont kill me please. Then during the break, Rico saved my life and told me where the water cooler was so be happy peopl! I didnt die! Continueing, we went in and more brass people came up to perform. So it was more vibrant. Then they had more solos again but I swear I didnt sleep. The two snare drummers were so in unison that they sounded like one drum! Cool hur? The last song was nearly one hour! OMG. Me and YugHan were too excited. Every time the cymbals got into a loud crash we braced for clapping but then the song went to a slow tune. And the thing repeated a few more times. Then after they ended, we two were laughing like mad in our seats. Then in the process of laughing, YugHan tried to crack a joke that what if someone shouted encore. Then during that moment of saying that, he spit into my mouth in the excitement. So funny.

Then we went round and round to search for a place to eat after the concert. Ended up going to the Suntec foodcourt. Wooo! Had alot of fun. We ate alot. Then we played at the fountain for a while and then Me, Gab, Vera and Zhyi went home. So it was a pretty awesome day. The pictures will be posted soon enough. Then you all can experience the magic together! Ok, thats a bit too Disney... Big thanks to Zhiyi, Gabriel, Vera, YugHan, Yexi, Rico, Jerald and Jonathan and many more whom I have left out.

TODAY! was superbly uberliously fun! FUN FUN FUN! Haha. Morning woke up to the sound of nothing. I'll skip the boring part and zip to the part where Joshua called me in the middle of an important TV show, Hi-5, to ask me go to the park. So I ate lunch and met Joshua, Rifat, Nicole, Charissa and Yi Jun at the basketball court. So naturally me , Joshua and Rifat played basketball. Then we headed to the beach with the other three girls. Me and Rifat sat aside and I will post up pictures that tell more than just words. Then we went to eat. I bought one chicken which was uberlisiously tasty. Then we went to the beach again. And we saw this really cool cloud. I have a picture which I will soon post up. It was like a tornado. Then it rained and the shelter was full of bugs. So we all played basketball in the rain. Soo cool!

My shirt was wet! Haha. Joshua recieved most injuries award with falling down 5 times on the court and being rammed in the balls by a basketball by Charissa and kicked on the leg by Nicole. So the rain soon subsided. We played for a while more before heading to the beach to swim. We had a good time. Soon we headed to rental shop to rent bikes. We tried to teach Yi Jun how to cycle but alas to no avail, we rented a two- person bike instead and Joshua rode with her. Awww... So romantic. Lol. Then we headed into a scary swamp which I felt gave a really horror movie feel. Lol. Then Rifat saw "something". Then we headed to a cafe and played two games of pool before heading home soon after.

A big thanks to the girls for sponsoring the bike ride and the free onion rings and potato wedges. And to Joshua and Rifat for asking me to tag along.

Tata!

More pictures I promise.
